Budget tracking tool
The budget Tracking Tool enables you to view projects funded by CDF and LATF. The tool can also be accessed by SMS by sending a text message to 3002. e.g. constituency#project (westlands#water).
Sample image SODNET launched the Open Budget Index (OBI) Report in February of 2009 in Nairobi inviting participants from Uganda, Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya. The Index is a measure of the level of accessibility of the budget to the citizen.

SODNET, Ushahidi (www.ushahidi.com) and the Innovation Hub of Nairobi (iHUB) were yesterday featured on the White House blog.The organizations have been taking lead in a competition that brings together technology developers, civil society and citizens in a conversation that will lead to the development of ICT tools that could improve the lives of citizens.

Apps for Africa-Rwanda Launch

Press Release,  27th July, 2010

The Apps for Africa Contest for Rwanda was officially launched on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Ebenezer Building in collaboration with the Norwegian Peoples Aid.The launch was part of a series of similar events having taken place in Kenya and Uganda. “Apps 4Africa” brings together local developers to work with local civil society organizations (CSOs) to build technology tools to solve everyday problems in the East Africa Region.

International Organizations Agree to Take Concerted Action to End Pediatric HIV/AIDS

Vienna, July 19th 2010
A global alliance of international organizations, including the heads of UNICEF, UNAIDS and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria as well as other NGOs including the Pan African Treatment Access Movement, Health GAP, Ugandan Pediatric Association and the Global AIDS Alliance today agreed to take concerted action to eliminate pediatric HIV/AIDS over the next five years, preventing nearly 400,000 children annually from beginning their lives infected with the virus that causes AIDS.

Budget tracking tool, Benefit mapping and Frontline sms strengthening citizens and systems for accountability

INFONET: Citizen's engagement in enforcing accountability for the improvement of service delivery in Kenya:  (A Feature on ANSA-AFRICA website)

The Social Development Network’s main aim is to promote and facilitate effective strategic alliances among members and interested groups within Kenya. As a network, SODNET’s mandate is anchored on the need to restore the institutional integrity and civic sovereignty of the social sector. INFONET, a SODNET programme, originated in 2007, based on the need to create convergences on actions that are critical to the development of the human person. This attached presentation provides an outline of INFONET and its use of various ICT tools to promote accountability of service delivery.

SODNET co-hosts launch of the "apps 4 Africa" Contest

U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Judith McHale and ambassador Michael Ranneberger announced the launch of the“Apps 4 Africa” contest on 1st July 2010.The regional competition seeks to harness the power of African software developers in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda and leverage the power of digital technology to improve the lives of ordinary people in East Africa and worldwide."Apps 4 Africa" will bring together local developers and local civil society organizations (CSOs) to build technology tools to solve regional problems.

About SODNET

SODNET is an indigenous organisation, established by Non-governmental Organization (NGOs) workers from Kenya as a facility for reflection and action by local groups on causes and consequences of poverty and disempowerment of communities. It aims at facilitating effective strategic alliances among interested people’s and social movements to influence policy-on issues of social development, in particular on resource management, globalisation and information.
