The lack of government capacity to effectively use ICT is one of the factors that prompted the founders of the Kenyan Budget Tracking Tool to work with various ministries to put budgetary data online in a way that would be useful for citizens. Philip Thigo, one of the project's co-founders, says the government was more or less willing to make its data accessible-and in fact was attempting to put information online-but that the ministries lacked the necessary technical skills to make their databases easily navigable by average Kenyans.

The Social Development Network is participating in an international project involving more than 85 countries to conduct research into budget spending in three fields: maternal health, environment and development cooperation. Under this project we will be gathering information about public spending in these fields in Kenya.

The Campaign to End Pediatric HIV/AIDS-CEPA was launched on 26th January 2010, at the Panafric Hotel, Nairobi. The launch effectively inaugurated the National advocacy action plan (NAAP) for Kenya. CEPA is a three year (2010-2013) global advocacy campaign initiated by Global AIDS alliance (GAA), an international Non Governmental Organization based in Washington DC.
