Budget tracking tool
The budget Tracking Tool enables you to view projects funded by CDF and LATF. The tool can also be accessed by SMS by sending a text message to 3002. e.g. constituency#project (westlands#water).
Sample image SODNET launched the Open Budget Index (OBI) Report in February of 2009 in Nairobi inviting participants from Uganda, Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya. The Index is a measure of the level of accessibility of the budget to the citizen.

Buying of Burial Land Faulted

A state watchdog has exposed serious anomalies in the purchase of cemetery land at a cost of shs290 million by City Hall. The Kenya National Audit office has written to the local Government permanent secretary Sammy Kirui demanding explanations on how the money for the purchase of 100 acre land in Mavoko Municipality was released.

Water firm sends six managers home over fire

Six managers have been suspended from the National water and Pipeline Corporation. This comes barely three weeks after a mysterious fire razed down the company premises in Nairobi. Water assistant minister Mwangi Kiunjuri said among those suspended is an auditor and a financial officer.

Fire destroys water offices in the City

A fire gutted the Kenya Water conservation and Pipeline corporation headquarters, destroying valuable data and money. Police and witnesses said the fire began yesterday at 3am after the explosion from one of the offices. The destroyed offices include the managing director’s, accounts and other crucial departments along Machakos Road in Nairobi’s Industrial Area.

About SODNET

SODNET is an indigenous organisation, established by Non-governmental Organization (NGOs) workers from Kenya as a facility for reflection and action by local groups on causes and consequences of poverty and disempowerment of communities. It aims at facilitating effective strategic alliances among interested people’s and social movements to influence policy-on issues of social development, in particular on resource management, globalisation and information.
